Spencer, Iowa — Regarding the case of a former Spencer pastor charged with Sexual Exploitation By A Counselor — court records would seem to indicate a plea bargain is in the works.
According to court records, Judge Nancy Whittenburg cancelled a pretrial conference for 51-year-old Kevin Grimes of Spencer, that was to have been on Tuesday, March 7th. She set a plea hearing for Monday, May 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Grimes had originally pled not guilty in October, and a change-of-venue request was denied late last month.
Clay County authorities accuse Grimes of allegedly having text conversations of a sexual nature and also sharing nude photographs of himself with people he was counseling. Investigators also allege that Mr. Grimes had a sexual relationship with people he counseled.
