Northwest Iowa — A couple of light snow events remain on track through Friday night, each likely to bring a dusting to an inch of snowfall, with greatest amounts south of I-90, and especially toward the Missouri River.
Extremely cold weather will settle into the area, especially during the weekend, when wind chills will take an even more dire turn reaching as low as -30 to -40 by Sunday morning, with actual air temperatures in the upper teens below to lower 20s below zero. It will remain brutally cold on Monday morning (again -15 to -25 degrees). Be sure to take appropriate action to protect yourself, pets and livestock from the extreme cold for the next several days.
Multiple rounds of light snow are expected to end the week. For today, light snow accumulations of an inch or less are forecast generally along and north of I-80. Then, a second round Friday afternoon into Saturday morning will bring light to moderate snow accumulations to central and southern Iowa.
