Fundraising Going Well For Proposed Public Safety Complex In Paullina

Paullina, Iowa — The plans for the proposed public safety complex in Paullina are still in their infancy, but the fundraising is going well.

We talked to Paullina Fire Chief Brent Noteboom, who says the idea is that they would like to build a combined fire/ambulance/police station. But no architect has yet been hired, and they’re not sure where the building would go.

However, they do know it’s going to cost a lot of money, so they’ve been working on that part. He tells us that they had a Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast and that after expenses were paid about $10,000 in donations were able to be put toward the new building. He says they also held a fundraiser golf tournament recently. However, he says the final figures haven’t been released yet. But he did tell us that that fundraiser also went very well.

According to Noteboom, the fire department has outgrown its station, which was built in the 1970s. He says the trucks are just packed in there, and there is also not enough locker space. Nooteboom says they also believe there are advantages to having the fire department, ambulance squad, and police department all under one roof.
