Gas Prices Fall Six Cents In Iowa; Mostly Under $3.00 Here

Statewide Iowa — AAA says Iowa gas prices fell again last week.

The price of regular unleaded gas was down six cents a gallon with an average price of two dollars, 97 cents across Iowa. That gas price is down 43 cents from last year. The national average was 33 cents higher than Iowa, after falling five cents. Diesel prices were also down — dropping seven cents to a statewide average of four-dollars, 17 cents. That’s down 83 cents from last year.

A check of gas prices at gasbuddy.com shows the cheapest gas in our four-county area in Hawarden, at just $2.89 per gallon. It’s $2.94 at Hospers. At last report, at both Rock Rapids and Sioux Center, it was $2.95 a gallon. Both George and Sibley are a penny more at $2.96. The most popular price in our area when we checked was $2.99 per gallon. That was the price in Sheldon, Hull, Paullina, Alton, and Orange City. The highest price for a gallon of gas was found in Sanborn, at $3.09 per gallon.
