Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon motorists are experiencing some degree of sticker shock at the gas pumps today.
According to listener reports, the price of gas in Sheldon jumped from $3.489 to $3.799 sometime on Monday afternoon. That’s a jump of 31 cents per gallon.
A quick review of prices on gasbuddy.com reveals that the $3.799 price is the highest in our part of northwest Iowa. The lowest price was reported at one station in Sioux Center, where gas is reportedly $3.41 per gallon. The price is a few cents higher in Sutherland, Hull, and one Orange City station, at $3.49. It’s 10 cents higher than that in Rock Rapids and Rock Valley at $3.59. Gas in Hawarden is reported to be selling for $3.62.
The most popular price for gas in our area is $3.69. That’s the price reported in George, Sanborn, Paullina, Alton, and one station each in Orange City, Sioux Center, and Sibley. Ocheyedan residents are paying $3.70 according to Gas Buddy. They tell us that along with Sheldon, there’s one station in Sibley where customers are also paying $3.79 per gallon.
