Orange City, Iowa — A “Go Buckets” initiative for Sioux County Schools, announced in November, has gained serious traction.
In a press release from the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, since the “Go Bucket” initiative was announced last fall, the School Resource Officers (SRO’s) in Sioux County and Sioux County Community Health Partners have been receiving monetary donations as well as items that were published on a “needs” list.
“Go Buckets” are packed with supplies for emergency preparedness, and the goal is to provide one for each classroom in the county. Th buckets supply students with supplies should they be required to stay in a classroom for a long period of time during an emergency. There are approximately 675 classrooms in Sioux County schools.
The Sioux County School Resource Officers continue to work on this initiative by submitting various grant applications. The completion date of the project has not yet been determined due the grant deadlines and final determinations of those grants. For more information, contact the Sioux County Sherrif’s Office at 712-737-2280.
