Sheldon, Iowa — About 35 children and their families were on hand early Monday evening for the Bike Rodeo put on by the Sheldon Public Library.
Youth Librarian Annie McCabe says the event, which was held in the City parking lot on the north side of the library, featured a variety of activities focusing on the fun and safety of bike riding. Participants showed up on bicycles, tricycles and scooters for the event.
McCabe says community volunteers, along with the Sheldon Police Department and Sheldon Community Ambulance Team helped the kids in attendance fit their helmets and practice safe biking, along with staffing a variety of stations, including an obstacle course and a bicycle brake check.
Monday’s Sheldon Public Library Bike Rodeo ran from 5:30 until 7:00.
McCabe says she was thrilled with the turnout, and expressed her gratitude to the Sheldon Police Department and SCAT, as well as the many community volunteers who made the event possible.
