Got Standing Corn Along A State Highway? Leave It For A Snow Fence And You Could Get Paid

Statewide Iowa — Farmers, if you don’t have all your corn combined yet and it’s along a state highway, there’s a possibility that the Iowa DOT could use your help, and you could be money ahead.

Former northwest Iowa resident and the Iowa DOT’s Winter Operations Administrator Craig Bargfrede tells us about the program.

He tells us what to do if you’re interested in helping them out.

And, speaking of payment, it’s a pretty good deal, says Bargfrede.

He says it’s an effective program, and there are other things you can do to help besides leaving standing corn rows.

In our area, the three DOT Maintenance Garages are in Alton, Ashton, and Rock Rapids, and the supervisor for all three is Lance Schlumbohm.

Alton: 712-756-8814
