Grants Awarded To Marcus And Lakes Area Community Projects

Northwest Iowa — The state’s Enhance Iowa Board has awarded grants in northwest Iowa that are a portion of $1.8 million worth of grants to help finance community projects.

The Enhance Iowa Board has awarded the town of Marcus a $300,000 grant for a facility that will include a golf course clubhouse, a recreation center, a restaurant and event venue as well as an area for virtual sports.

A half-a-million-dollar grant has also been awarded toward improvements around West Okoboji’s Terrace Park Beach, which has a public swimming area in the lake, and the nearby Alex Danborn Memorial Park.

Washington County in southeast Iowa, as well as the small town of Keota, located on the border of Washington and Keokuk Counties are joining Marcus and West Okoboji Terrace Park Beach in getting grants of a half million each for a pool and an indoor aquatic center.
