Granville, Iowa — A Granville man has died and an Ayrshire man was taken to the hospital after an accident near Granville.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that about 3:35 PM on Thursday, September 24, 2015, 55-year-old Douglas James of Granville was driving a 1990 Chevy pickup northbound on Log Avenue, three miles south and two west of Granville. Forty-nine year-old William Myers of Ayrshire was westbound on 490th Street in a 2005 International semi.
The report says that the James pickup collided with the rear of the semi. After the collision, the pickup came to a rest in the southwest ditch. The semi jack-knifed into the northwest ditch.
James was ejected from the vehicle and died from his injuries.
The Granville Ambulance took Myers to Orange City Health System Hospital.
Granville Fire and EMS personnel assisted at the scene.
