Harvest Going Great In Northwest Iowa

Northwest Iowa — The harvest continues to come in at a good pace in northwest Iowa.

We had a chance to talk to Iowa State University Extension and Outreach agronomist Joel De Jong who tells us harvest seems to be going well after a brief wet period. He says 90 percent of soybeans in the area have been harvested.

He says farmers are bringing in a lot of crops.

He tells us how wet the corn has been running in the area.

He says if you’ve got some corn standability issues in any areas, it would be good to get those out first.

De Jong says it will probably take 10 days to two weeks of good weather to get the remaining estimated 80 percent of the corn out of the fields. And he says that’s if we don’t get any major precipitation.
