Healthy Living Is Theme Of 5K Planned In Sibley, Other Communities

Sibley, Iowa — A statewide organization is partnering with 12 communities across Iowa to host a health-themed fun run. One of the communities is Sibley.

Live Healthy Iowa officials tell us the eighth annual Live Healthy Iowa 5K is planned for this Saturday, April 23rd. Other communities holding Live Healthy Iowa 5Ks will be Anamosa, Bondurant, Carroll, Decorah, Dickinson County, Dike, Fort Dodge, Hancock County, Sergeant Bluff, Spencer, and Storm Lake. A virtual option is also being offered.

Proceeds from the events will benefit local wellness efforts in these communities, as well as Live Healthy Iowa Kids initiatives. The Live Healthy Iowa 5K is sponsored by the Iowa Hawkeyes.

We talked to the person in charge of the Sibley event, Abby Kreykes, who works in the physical therapy department at Osceola Regional Medical Center.

She tells us about their involvement with Live Healthy Iowa.

While supplies last, participants will receive a Live Healthy Iowa 5K T-shirt along with their race number, finisher medal, and the opportunity to win door prizes. The 1K kids’ run, for ages 12 and younger, is $5 through race day.

You can pick up your packet and register on-site (on Saturday, April 23) from 7:00-7:45 a.m. at the Osceola Regional Health Center entrance at 600 Ninth Avenue North in Sibley.
