Heavy Rainfall/Flash Flooding Possible

Scattered thunderstorms are possible late this afternoon into this evening. The strongest storms are expected mainly along and south of highway 18 in northwest Iowa. Some of the storms will be capable of producing large hail, damaging winds, frequent lightning and locally heavy rainfall.

The big change many will notice as they walk out the door this morning will be the cooler temperatures. Most locations will only top out in the low to mid 70s today, which is quite a difference compared to the heat from the past several days. The week ahead looks unsettled with several chances for showers and thunderstorms. It appears that areas south of I-90 will have the higher precipitation chances through the period in general. Temperatures also remain on the cooler side of normal.
