Historic Building In Spencer Damaged In The June Flood Is Being Purchased

Spencer, Iowa – A historic building in downtown Spencer that was heavily damaged in the June flood is being purchased. Andrew Maurer and a non-profit group have announced their intention to purchase the former Tangney Hotel.

Maurer’s family has a long history with the building. He says he plans to renovate the structure, which would include commercial units on the lower level and apartments on the upper levels.

Maurer says he wants to do his part to assist in Spencer’s flood recovery and he feels this is a good step toward doing that.
