Rock Valley, Iowa — If you are an avid angler, or if you’d just like to help out Hope Haven, there is an event coming up in which you might be interested.
Brooke Lowin is Hope Haven’s Marketing Manager. She tells us about a fishing tournament on the mighty Missouri.
(as said:) “That is happening on Friday, June 5 at Fort Randall Dam, Lake Francis Case near Pickstown, South Dakota. And that is a benefit fundraiser. It’s $60 to participate. Children under 16 are free and we’re just recommending that everyone follows the South Dakota social distancing guidelines to participate in the event and then we’re having everyone do the weigh-in at the North Point Fish-Cleaning Station. And again, just following social distancing guidelines there. The 60-dollar cost enters you to win the weigh-in prizes and includes some snacks.”
She tells us where the funds go.
(as said:) “The proceeds go to Hope Haven’s local and international service program. So that benefits all that we do in northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota with Community Living Services, Employment Services… all the things that we do to help individuals with disabilities. And it also benefits what we do internationally with providing wheelchairs for people in need of mobility.”
Lowin says there is an opportunity for anglers to win three weigh-in prizes, and it’s just a great opportunity to get outside and enjoy the outdoors with your family during this time dealing with COVID-19. They just remind you to practice social distancing.
