Hope Haven To Hold Drive-Thru “Digital Zoo” Fundraiser

Rock Valley, Iowa — It’s not the type of fundraiser you hear about every day. In fact, as fundraisers go, it’s pretty close to unique.

Hope Haven in Rock Valley is going to hold what they call a “Digital Zoo.” Termed “a safe, socially distanced family outing,” the event will be in the evenings from January 25th through the 30th in Rock Valley.

Hope Haven Marketing Manager Brooke Kooima tells us about it.

(as said:) “This event is a partnership that we’ve been working on with DKOI signs and we thought with covid and wintertime — it seemed like a really fun opportunity for families to come on out and drive through a digital zoo. So what that means is in our Westview Business Park ain Rock Valley — we’re going to set up a loop with all of these digital signs that will each display a different video animal exhibit and families can drive through and see monkeys and lions and everything from the comfort of their car. So you can socially distance and do everything safely [It’s from] 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. each night. And it is a fundraiser for Hope Haven so that we ask patrons if you enjoy the zoo, you can give back to Hope Haven and we have a website set up for that. [It’s] hopehaven.org/zoo and you can learn more about the zoo and donate at that site.”

Kooima says the signs are capable of a multimedia experience.

(as said:) “Each of the DKOI signs has the capability to play videos. It’ll be a more dynamic experience to see the animals actually moving on each screen and there’ll be fun facts playing about the animals. So it’s an educational thing too for the kids and [with] every donation you have an entry in to win one of the prizes and the prizes are a variety of kids stuffed animals.”

She says it’s a fun opportunity for families to get out of the house and also a chance to support Hope Haven during the pandemic.
