Hospers, Iowa — The summer festivals are winding down, but there are some big ones left. For instance, this weekend, it’s Hospers’ turn.
Hospers’ Summer Celebration is this Saturday, August 20th, and there are many opportunities. It starts with a vendor fair and 4H/FFA Bake Sale. There will be bingo in the community building. At South Side Park, there’s a smoke-off with judging at 2 p.m. for the loin and at 3 p.m. for the ribs. Three tournaments will be at the park as well. A bean bag tournament will start at 9:00 a.m., a sand volleyball tournament will start at 10:00 a.m., and a horseshoe tournament will start at 1:00 p.m. Registration forms can be found at hospersiowa.com or on their Facebook page.
Kids will have no trouble finding something to do. There are inflatables, kiddie train rides, face painting, water fights, “touch a truck,” and free ice cream bars. Thistle and Lace will perform at the band shell.
There will also be several food vendors available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as treats.
