Sheldon, Iowa — If you’ve had any household hazardous materials taking up space in your basement or garage, it’s now time for you to dispose of it. For FREE.
Sheldon City Manager Sam Kooiker says the Northwest Iowa Landfill’s Household Hazardous Materials (HHM) trailer will be accepting those items Tuesday afternoon from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at the Community Services Center west parking lot..
Kooiker says if you take acrylic paint to the HHM trailer, there will be a charge to dispose of it. He says that, since acrylic paint isn’t toxic, the easiest was to dispose of it is to let it dry out and then just throw it away.
There is a form that you’ll have to sign to drop off your household hazardous materials at the HHM Trailer. You can download the HHM form by CLICKING HERE. Please note that this is for hazardous HOUSEHOLD materials only.
Tuesday is also the deadline to sign up for Sheldon’s annual City-Wide Cleanup Days, which begins next Monday. You can contact the Sheldon City Office for more information at 712-324-4651.
