Hull Preparing For SummerFest Celebration This Week

Hull, Iowa — Even with the festivities of Independence Day in full swing, Hull’s 2,300 residents are gearing up another celebratory time this week. With the exception of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, every year the Hull Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors many events for the annual SummerFest celebration. The Chamber is not the only sponsor, however. Many activities are hosted by the schools, area churches, and other community groups.

The annual SummerFest celebration is a family friendly event that has something for kids young and old. There will be a BBQ fundraiser held by the Fire Department. There will be a show to take in put on by the Boyden-Hull Summer Theater. Saturday July 9th has a full day of fun activities in store. The day will start with a pancake breakfast, and the largest candy parade in northwest Iowa. For the afternoon, here will be a carnival and pedal pull for the kids, as well as a fun-run, vendor fair, and even a food court area set up along Main Street. The day and celebration will conclude Saturday evening with a fundraising event, where chefs from the area put together their very best dishes, whether meats, veggies, or even desserts for the Tailgating Cook-Off Classic.

The fun is open for everyone to participate, and is set to begin Wednesday, July 6th, and continues through the cook-off on Saturday the 9th.
