Sheldon, Iowa — The identity has now been released of the person who perished in a Sheldon apartment fire late last month.
During the wee hours of Monday, April 25th, Sheldon firefighters were called to an apartment fire at 219 8th Street. On arrival they found one unit of the six-plex apartment building with heavy smoke coming from the front and flames counting out the back bedroom window, with the occupant unaccounted for at the time.
According to the report, firefighters tried to enter the apartment unit but were pushed back by the extreme heat and smoke. Once the blaze was under control, firefighters were able to find and recover the body of the apartment’s resident, who officials now identify as 60-year-old Marlyn Anderson.
