If Your Home In Osceola County Sustained Major Flood Damage, Call Osceola County EMA

Sibley, Iowa — In a situation similar to the one we described for you recently in regard to Sheldon and O’Brien County — Sibley and Osceola County are also trying to convince the Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA that there is enough damage in the county to warrant a federal disaster declaration for the recent flooding in that county.

Sibley Fire Chief Ken Huls also serves with Osceola County Emergency Management, and he tells us what’s up.

Those numbers again are 712-461-0154 for Bechler and 712-754-2556 for the sheriff’s office. He says they know a lot of people had damage, but they need to document it — especially the more major damage.

He says this is not the “applying for help” stage yet — and even if you are not requesting help, they still want you to report major damage to provide the data that FEMA needs to help grant a federal disaster designation.

So again, if your home is in Osceola County and you had structural damage or water so high that it went above your basement into your main floor, call Osceola County Emergency Manager Dan Bechler at 712-461-0154 or the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office at 712-754-2556.
