Statewide Iowa — New daily COVID-19 hospitalization rates in the U.S. have risen 51 percent over the last two weeks, with 36 states and the District of Columbia seeing hospitalization rates trend upward, according to data tracked by The New York Times. However, Iowa has one of the lower hospitalization rates in the country, thus far.
According to the federal Department of Health and Human Services, Iowa ranks 42nd in COVID hospitalization rates in the past two weeks. The figures show Iowa with a DECREASE in COVID hospitalizations of 4% in the past two weeks, with 25 out of every 100,000 Iowans hospitalized with COVID. That translates to approximately a 0.00025% hospitalization rate.
Taking a look at neighboring states, South Dakota is at #38, with a 1% decrease in hospitalizations in the past two weeks, and a hospitalization rate of 28 per 100,000 residents.
North Dakota ranks #43, with a 14 day decrease of 4% in their COVID hospitalization rate and 29 of every 100,000 residents hospitalized.
Nebraska ranks #45 with a 6% decrease in the number of hospitalizations and a hospitalization rate of 28 people per 100,000 population.
Minnesota is #46 worst, with a 9% decrease in COVID hospitalizations in the past fourteen days, and 26 of every 100,000 population hospitalized with COVID.
The worst state is the country for COVID hospitalizations is Louisiana, where they experienced a 336% INCREASE in COVID hospitalizations in the past fourteen days, and have 20 of every 100,000 residents hospitalized with COVID.
The state with the best numbers for COVID hospitalizations is Wyoming, where they saw a 31% decrease in hospitalizations in the past fourteen days, and have just 11 of every 100,000 of the state’s residents hospitalized with COVID.
