Iowa DNR To Hold Virtual Public Meeting On Chronic Wasting Disease

Des Moines, Iowa — The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is going to hold a virtual public meeting to update the public on Chronic-Wasting-Disease surveillance and management efforts.

It’s scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29th and will be held via Zoom. You can register at this link: https://bit.ly/IowaDNR-CWD

The DNR says that as of November 14th, 263 wild deer have tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease in 16 Iowa counties. Dr. Rachel Ruden, state wildlife veterinarian, says it’s important Iowans stay up to date on where CWD has been found so they can make informed consumption decisions.

Chronic Wasting Disease is always fatal to the infected animal and is present in all tissues, including the meat.
