Iowa One Of 17 States Seeing COVID Cases Track Upward

Statewide Iowa — Despite the fact that our four-county area of O’Brien, Sioux, Osceola and Lyon Counties have been seeing a decline in new positive COVID test results in recent weeks, that’s not the case statewide, according to Becker’s Hospital Review.

Iowa is one of seventeen states seeing weekly cases trend upward, according to data tracked by the The New York Times.

The data is taken from state and local health agencies and was last updated Tuesday, July 6th.

According to the report, Iowa ranks number 15 in new positive COVID cases in the country, with a 15-percent increase in the past fourteen days involving 3 cases per 100,000 residents.

South Carolina is experiencing the worst upward trend, with a 145% increase in COVID cases. Nebraska is rated number 2, with a 137% increase. Other nearby states on the list include Missouri at number 5, where they’ve seen a 45% increase. Kansas is number 8, with a 32% increase. South Dakota ranks number 9, with a 27% increase in COVID cases. And Wisconsin ranks number 16, with a 12% increase.
