Iowa State Patrol, Other Agencies Out In Force Over Memorial Day Weekend

Northwest Iowa — It’s a holiday weekend. That means law enforcement officers are out in force, protecting drivers from each other.

In fact, this special Traffic Enforcement Project or “sTEP” is actually an extended one. It’s been going on since the middle of last week and doesn’t wrap up until June 9th. But Iowa State Patrol Trooper Kevin Krull says the emphasis is on the holiday weekend.

Krull says Memorial Day is one of the deadliest holidays on the roads.

According to Krull, if you have more than one drink and then get behind the wheel, you’re asking for trouble.

Krull made his comments during his monthly visit with Larry Arends during the “Morning Conversation” program on the KIWA-FM Morning Show.
