Rock Rapids, Iowa — We’re in the midst of county fair season, which means it’s time for the Lyon County Fair in Rock Rapids.
Actually, the Lyon County Fair had a few events this past week, with a couple of events scheduled this weekend before things really crank up on Monday.
Saturday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 there will be Open Class Registration of sewing, crafts, photography and food, with judging at 1:00 Saturday afternoon.
On Sunday, enjoy a gospel concert featuring The Klassens, with an ice cream social to follow at First Reformed Church of Rock Rapids. The concert is scheduled for 2:30 Sunday afternoon.
Things crank off bright and early Monday morning for a full day of judging, along with programs from the Lyon County Deputies, inflatables and rides, County Fair Picnic, Fair Queen Contest and more.
Tuesday will be Kid’s Day at the Lyon County Fair, with Kid’s Day Wristbands sponsored in part by Avera Merrill Pioneer Hospital. Mr. Twister and Zoomobile will be on hand, as well. The Lyon County Pork Producer’s Meal will be served from 5:30 to 7:00, with all kinds of judging and fun around the fairgrounds.
On Wednesday, the highlights include Kevin Barnes Shows on the fairgrounds and Figure 8 Races.
4-H Foundation Supper and Awards is scheduled for Thursday, along with the Youth Fun Night.
Everything wraps up on Friday night with Rapid Speedway Races with free admission at 7:30 pm.
