Sheldon, Iowa — This is Homecoming Week for the Sheldon Community Schools, with special themes for each day.
Monday was Hawaiian Day at the high school, with 9th & JV Football taking on South O’Brien at Paullina. 9th grade volleyball faces Central Lyon at Rock Rapids.
Tuesday was Country Western Day, with the High School Cross Country team running at the RiseFest Grounds at 4:30, and Homecoming Coronation in the high school gym at 8:00 Tuesday evening. Homecoming King Max Hamill and Queen Ada Borer were crowned after being selected via a vote by the student body.
Wednesday is Teacher/Student Flip Day.
Thursday will be Throwback Thursday, with High School Cross Country running against Sioux Center at Dordt University at 4:15, and Volleyball at home against George-Little Rock.
Friday is the big day of Homecoming Week, with activities, HeMan Volleyball, Powder Puff Football, a Talent Show, High School Pep Assembly and the Homecoming Parade, which will encompass the SCS Campus, starting near the middle school and ending at the high school. There will be a Tailgate Supper hosted by Sheldon FFA, Pre-Game Recognition of Homecoming Candidates, followed by the football game against West Lyon. The Homecoming Dance will begin after the game and continue to 11:30 pm.
On Saturday, The Marching Orabs will be at Starfest in Sioux City, the Varsity Volleyball Team will play in the Sioux City East Tournament, while JV Volleyball will play in the Western Christian Tournament.
