It’s RAGBRAI Weekend In Orange City

Orange City, Iowa — If you’re headed to or through Orange City this weekend, we remind you that it’s RAGBRAI time and Orange City is the starting city this year.

Thousands of bike riders are descending on Orange City and will leave on the ride on Sunday morning.

Primghar is the designated meeting point on Sunday where riders can meet up with their support vehicles, which will be taking a different route.

Bikes will head south on K64, and pick up 460th Street to Alton, and then take Highway 10 through Granville and Paullina. Then they’ll head north on L48 and then turn east on B40 and head into Primghar. Then it’s B40 to M12 to head to Hartley. Then it’s some more county roads south of Highway 18 to get to the overnight town, Spencer.

Support vehicles will take a much more direct route, north on K64 to Highway 18, and Highway 18 through Sheldon, Sanborn, and Hartley to Spencer. Those meeting riders in Primghar will take Highway 59 east of Sanborn south to get to Primghar, and then back to 18 for the remainder of the trip.

Orange City Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Mike Hoffman gives us some traffic suggestions and tells us where the most congestion will be.

He says the Orange City Police Department will be assisted by the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office and both local Iowa State Patrol officers and those from other parts of the state, so law enforcement will be out in force.

Hoffman tells us about a special opportunity.

He also reminds people that the bikes will be going south on K64 on Sunday morning, so no vehicles except the bikes will be allowed to turn south at the K64 and Highway 10 stop light for several hours on Sunday morning.

Hoffman reminds residents and riders that they can find more information at ragbrai.orangecityiowa.com.
