It’s That Time Of Year…Christmas Activities Are Here

Northwest Iowa — Looking for Activities to get you and your family in the Christmas mood?

There are many activities happening in the month of December in Northwest Iowa that will get anyone in a cheerful mood, there are also many activities that could involve Santa himself.

Rock Rapids will be having Holiday Events all evening on Thursday (December 1st). From 4:00 to 7:00 in the evening they will have Santa’s mailbox just outside of Rosie’s. Children can mail off their letters or pictures to the big man in the North Pole.

At the Forster Community Center from 5:00 to 7:00 that evening will be the free will donation Kiwanis Pancake Supper, horse and wagon rides, kids activities, and Santa and Mrs. Claus will even be there.

Between 5:30 and 7:00 there will be a living nativity and living windows in downtown Rock Rapids. After viewing these you may want to stop by Rosie’s again for hot chocolate between 6:00 and 7:00.

To end your evening of activities don’t forget to drive through Westside Park for the Holiday Light Extravaganza.

Sheldon will be having a Merry Little Christmas Party At Prairie Arts Historical Park on Saturday (December 3rd) from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. There will be treats, and Christmas crafts, and Santa will be there.

In Sibley there will be Breakfast with Santa at the Pizza Ranch on Saturday (December 3rd) from 9:00 until 11:00 in the morning. Santa will be arriving by firetruck, so you won’t be able to miss him.

In Sanborn there will be Cookies with Santa on Saturday (December 3rd) from 3:00 until 5:00 in the evening. There will be decorating Christmas cookies, a horse-drawn carriage to ride, and the jolly man himself, Santa Claus. This will take place at the Sanborn Community Center.

Also in Sanborn that same night will be the Parks and Rec’s Movie Night at the old Presbyterian Church. This year “Home Alone” will be showing and admission is free. The movie will begin at 7:00 p.m.

In Sioux Center there will be Cookie Decorating on Thursday (December 8th) at Casey’s Bakery. This will be from 3:30 until 5:30 in the evening.

After decorating cookies head on over to the Center Mall parking lot in Sioux Center for hot drinks and treats. This will be going on from 5:00 until 7:00 the same evening as the cookie decorating. When you buy a drink or treat you will be supporting local non-profits.

At 5:30 p.m. in Sioux Center, there will be a lighted parade that will take place along First Avenue Southwest. This will also be taking place on December 8th.

On Friday (December 9th) from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday (December 10th) from 9:00 until 3:00 p.m. there will be Holiday Bounce that will take place at 680 14th Street Northeast in Sioux Center. For children 10 and under it will cost five dollars and for children 11 and older it will cost seven dollars.

Hospers will be having Cookies with Santa on Saturday (December 10th) from 9:30 until 11 in the morning. They will have cookies and punch, story time with Stanley the dog, pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and horse-drawn carriage rides. This will take place at the Hospers Community Building.

Sheldon Public Library will be having a Holly Jolly Hoopla on Friday (December 16th) from 5:00 until 7:00 that evening. There will be Christmas treats, Christmas crafts, a reindeer, and Santa.

These are just a few of the activities taking place in the first half of December in our area. There are plenty of times to meet up with Santa or send a letter.
