Kannegieter’s Name Drawn To Settle Little Rock City Council Election Stalemate

Rock Rapids, Iowa — After last week’s election it was unclear who would serve on the Little Rock City Council.

Five people ran for three available positions on the council. After the election, we knew that incumbent Amy Kruse and challenger Marcus Minter would have seats on the council, and incumbent Joe Schilling would not. However, the question mark was who else would serve on the council.

Both Rod Borer and Austin Kannegieter had finished with exactly 86 votes, each.

This week, when the Lyon County Board of Supervisors met to canvas the election, they also drew a name to settle the election tie. Austin Kannegieter’s name was drawn, so he will serve on the Little Rock City Council.
