Kreibaum Benefit Dinner Is Sunday

Sutherland, Iowa — One of the best parts of living in northwest Iowa is the way people help and support one another in times of tragedy. That help and support is on display right now in Sutherland, following the death of one of their own as the result of the evil visited upon Las Vegas October 1st.

33-year old Carly Kreibaum was a wife and mother of two, who was attending the Harvest 92 Festival in Las Vegas with two friends when the gunman opened fire on the crowd. Kreibaum perished in the attack. But this coming Sunday, October 15th, her friends and neighbors will be holding a benefit dinner to raise funds for Kreibaum’s husband, Chris, and their two young children. One of the organizers of the benefit is Dan Wetherell of Sutherland, and he tells us how the benefit came about.

Wetherell says that, while the idea for the benefit originated in Sutherland, there has been a region-wide response of offers to help in some way.

In addition to Sunday’s benefit dinner, Wetherell says there have been two separate donation accounts set up at Security State Bank in Sutherland, to benefit the Kreibaum family.

Late Friday, the Sutherland Police Department, on their Facebook page, urged people not to donate to a bogus GoFundMe account for the Kreibaum family. Sutherland Police were successful in getting that GoFundMe page shut down, according to their Facebook feed.

Police say donations can be sent to the Security State Bank in Sutherland, for the Chris Kreibaum Family Benefit Account.
