Kwik Star Buys Former Shopko Location In Sheldon

Sheldon, Iowa — The opening of a new convenience store on the location formerly occupied by Shopko in Sheldon is one step closer to becoming reality.

According Wade Dumont of LaCrosse, Wisconsin-based Kwik Stop, the parent company of Kwik Star convenience stores, the sale of the former Shopko location has been completed and Kwik Star has taken possession of the property.

Dumont says the start of construction of the new store is scheduled to begin in mid-June of this year, with construction expected to be completed by the end of October this year.

This past August, Kwik Star had filed with the City of Sheldon an application for a building permit for the property. That application called for a $3.5 million, 11,017 square foot building to be constructed.

Construction on a new Kwik Star store in Le Mars is well underway, and according to Dumont, a planned store in Sibley is still in the design phase.
