Sheldon, Iowa — Earlier this week, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced the easing of restrictions on some categories of businesses that had been in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
One category of business allowed to reopen as of May 1st is gyms and fitness centers. However, the Lifelong Learning and Recreation Center, located on the campus of Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, will remain closed until the entire campus reopens. LLRC Director, Dr. Greta Giese says they’re preparing to open again on May 18th.
(As above) “As we continue to evaluate and assess the plans and best practices for social distancing and staffing and all the things that go into making sure that our patrons are safe as they come into our building for their workout, we can continue to stick with that may eighteenth date.”
Giese says that, while May 18th is the planned reopening date for the LLRC, a reopening date hasn’t yet been established for the LLRC East, which is located on the Sanford Sheldon Campus.
She says the LLRC still has FREE virtual classes available so you can keep fit until the LLRC reopens.
(As above) “We have been actually having quite a bit of fun with our virtual classes and providing different resources for our community members online. And one of the coolest part about all of the things that we have been doing on our social media channels is that it’s free. This is the time to be at our healthiest, and focus on our wellness and fitness.”
