Sheldon, Iowa — Drivers in the Sheldon area who went to fuel up their cars Friday morning were treated to gas prices that were a dime higher than they had been Thursday.
According to the prices posted at Sheldon fuel locations, Friday morning’s price for a gallon of unleaded gas had risen to within a penny or two of $3.79. That’s up a dime from Thursday’s price of $3.69 a gallon in Sheldon. Friday’s price increase still leaves Sheldon a bit below the state average of $3.88 a gallon.
But as local fuel prices take a hike, it could be worse. As of Friday afternoon the average price for gas nationwide was $4.15, according to Triple-A.
Triple-A says California drivers are paying the most of any state in the union for gas, with the average price at $5.70 a gallon. The state with the lowest average price in the country, as of Friday afternoon, is Georgia, where motorists are paying an average of $3.71.
