Northwest Iowa — A Louisiana man has been sentenced to more than ten years in federal prison for sexually enticing a northwest Iowa minor.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office in Sioux City, 23-year-old Christopher Ray White of Lettsworth, Louisiana, reportedly used mobile messaging apps to communicate with his 12-year-old victim between June 22, 2018 and June 27, 2018. Authorities say the victim told White they were only 12-years-old, and after learning the victim’s age, White requested to see inappropriate photos of the victim, and later sent the victim inappropriate photos and videos of himself and encouraged the victim to send him the same.
White was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Sioux City, with Judge Leonard Strand handing down a sentence of 126 months in a federal prison, with a 5-year term of supervised release after completing his prison term. There is no parole in the federal system. Officials say White is being held in the custody of the United States Marshal’s Service until he can be transported to a federal prison.
Authorities say the investigation was conducted by the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation and the Spirit Lake Police Department.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, CLICK HERE.
