Lyon County, Iowa – It’s County Fair Time in Lyon County, and the Fair Queen was crowned during a ceremony held Thursday night.
Named 2025 Lyon County Fair Queen was Miss Lester, Kiann Blomgren. Miss Rock Rapids, Maggie McCarthy was named Runner-Up. Other Lyon County Fair Queen contestants this year were: Miss George, Hayden McAlpine; Miss Doon, Nicole Huyser; Miss Little Rock, Makenzie Avila; and Miss Inwood, Erica Meendering.
Saturday evening the Faster Horses Band will appear at 8:00 on the Fairgrounds Concourse. On Sunday afternoon at 2:00, there will be a gospel concert featuring Gospel Gold, at First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids, with an ice cream social to follow.
The 2025 Lyon County Fair begins in earnest Monday, July 21st, with Commercial, 4-H/Open Class Buildings opening at 11:00 am. Monday afternoon the ISU Extension Learning Lab will be open from 1:00 until 3:30, the Historical Society Round Barn opens at 1:00 pm, Miss Amy Face Painting will take place from 1:00 until 7:00 pm Monday, with inflatables and minigolf open from 1:00 until 8:00. The Lyon County Fair Picnic will be served Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00, Monster Arm Wrestling begins at 6:00, with the Mutton Busting Competition beginning at 6:30. That’s all Monday at the Lyon County Fair.
Coming up on Tuesday at the 2025 Lyon County Fair, Inflatables and Miss Amy Face Painting will both be available beginning at 1:00 pm. They’ll also have a Kids’ Pedal Pull, an ISU Garden Tour, the Lyon County Pork Producers meal will be served Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, and at 7:30 the Rapids Speedway Races, featuring 410 Outlaw Sprints, 305 Sprints, and LMSS.
Wednesdays activities at the Lyon County Fair include: Inflatables and Miss Amy Face Painting beginning at 1:00 pm; from 3:30 to 7:00 enjoy the 605 Magic Art Bus; the Lyon County Cattlemen will be serving the evening meal Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00. Then at 7:30 Wednesday evening you can take in the Lyon County Fair Figure 8 Races.
Things wind down Thursday, with the release of fair exhibits, followed at 6:00 pm 4-H Foundation Supper & Awards.
Then on Friday night, you can enjoy Rapid Speedway Races with free admission.
