Machine Shed, Contents Destroyed In Fire

Ireton Fire 1-15-17Ireton, Iowa — A machine shed and its contents were destroyed in a fire near Ireton on Sunday morning.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, the report of a structure fire came in about 9:35 a.m. The fire was at 2220 450th Street, two miles northwest of Ireton.

When responders arrived a machine shed was found to be fully engulfed by fire.

The machine shed, a farm tractor, feeder wagon and other farm contents inside the building were a total loss
with damages estimated at $200,000.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is believed to be a faulty engine block heater.

The Ireton Fire Department reports that the Maurice Fire Department, Hawarden Fire Department, Sioux
Center Fire Department, Ireton Ambulance crew, and the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office assisted them.
