Magazine Says Iowa’s Best Hot Dog Is In Le Mars

Le Mars, Iowa — With Memorial Day right around the corner, many people are thinking about hot dogs. A major national magazine has named the best hot dog in every state. And it could be very easy for you to get what they call Iowa’s best hot dog. They’re served in Le Mars.

People Food partnered with the editors of Food & Wine to pick the best franks in the country. They say the best hot dog in Iowa is at Bob’s Drive Inn in Le Mars. Bob’s can be found at Business 75 and Highway 3 in Le Mars.

People says the Wimmer’s franks that Bob’s uses snap when you bite into them. They say that Bob’s “famous Bob Dog comes topped with tavern loose meats (a.k.a. seasoned ground beef).”

The hot dogs served at Bob’s are a local dish. Until recently when the plant was closed, the Wimmer’s franks they use were produced less than 90 miles away in West Point, Nebraska. And the buns come from none other than Casey’s Bakery in Sioux Center.

They say South Dakota’s best dog isn’t terribly far away either — at Hungry Dog in Mitchell.
