Sheldon, Iowa — This Friday is Mark Brown’s last day on the job at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon.
Brown, who is retiring, has been NCC’s Vice President for Operations & Finance, and has been with the college since 2007. We had a chance to talk with Brown, and he gives us some retirement thoughts. He tells us how he feels about his time at NCC.
(as said) “I’ve enjoyed it so much. Work with great people. The college has a great mission and continuing to do work for students and I’m looking forward as an active community person, in the years to follow, to track their progress because I think the story has not yet been written and there will be a lot of fun things going forward. So professionally and personally I have really enjoyed it. Enjoyed the people I worked with and I think we’ve done some good work so I’m very happy to have been a part of that and a great, great organization with a great mission.”
Brown says at this time they plan to stay in the area.
(as said) “We love northwest Iowa, so we will be staying in the area for the time being. Somewhere down the road, there may be a transition to get a little bit closer to kids and grandkids. But right now in the next five to seven-year period, we’re going to enjoy everything that Sheldon and northwest Iowa has to offer and I’m really looking forward to it.”
Before serving at NCC, Brown had been the Chief Financial Officer at Foreign Candy Company in Hull, an Audit Manager at Cain Ellsworth & Co. LLP, and an Assistant Administrator at Sanford Sheldon.
