May 2024 Was Much Wetter Than Normal In Sheldon

Sheldon, Iowa — The month of May was just a little warmer and much wetter than normal in Sheldon.

According to the weather facts collected by KIWA Radio, the highest high was 86 degrees, recorded on both May 12th and May 18th. The lowest high temperature was 59 degrees, recorded on both May 1st and May 2nd.

The lowest low in the month was 36 degrees on May 4th. The highest low was 66 on May 18.

The average high for the month was 73 degrees. The normal is 72. The average low was 50. The normal is 47. The average temperature as-a-whole for the month was 61.5 degrees, and normally it’s 59.5.

We received 8.54 inches of precipitation for May. A normal May sees 3.37 inches, so we were above normal for the month by 5.17 inches. Year-to-date precip has been 18.27 inches.
