Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will meet in regular session at 4:30 p.m. this Wednesday afternoon in the council chambers at the Sheldon Community Services Center across 9th Street from KIWA Radio.
First on their agenda after the approval of the agenda and the public forum is the administration of the oath of office to Police Officer Jager Roozeboom.
Next, they will hold a public hearing on the adoption of the Fiscal Year 2026 City of Sheldon Budget, and will likely pass a resolution adopting that budget.
On their consent agenda are minutes from previous meetings, the list of claims, financial reports, the approval of EMA applicants Mario Rassel & Randy Techen, the approval of Fire Company applicant Jeremie Mullnix, the approval of SCAT applicant Benito Ramirez, a liquor license renewal for Cobblestone Inn & Suites, a Sheldon High School Prom Committee request, a golf course usage agreement for fiscal year 2026, an allocation to O’Brien County Economic Develompment, an agreement with Upper Des Moines Opportunity for fiscal year 2026, an agreement with Family Crisis Centers for fiscal year 2026, an application for regional airport AIP funding, certain waivers for City-issued transient merchant permits, and setting the date for fiscal year 2025 budget amendment for May 21st. Unless a council member requests that an item be pulled out of the consent agenda to vote on separately, the entire consent agenda will be voted on in a single motion.
Under new business, the council will consider a resolution approving a contracted administration services agreement with Planning Solutions, LLC. And they will get an update and consider accepting temporary easements for the Western Avenue project.
After the City Manager’s report and any mayor or council comments, the council will enter closed session to discuss employment matters of an employee or employees not covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
The meeting starts at 4:30 p.m. in the council chambers and is available on YouTube.
