Sheldon, Iowa — A disease that most people think of as a disease from the 1960s is unfortunately coming back in some parts of the United States, due to fewer people vaccinating their children against it.
We talked to Sanford Sheldon physician, Dr. Amy Badberg, who tells us more.
She tells us a little more about this particular outbreak.
It’s been so long since measles was commonplace, we had to ask Dr. Badberg what, besides the rash, are the symptoms of measles.
Since this outbreak is in Texas, we asked Dr. Badberg if it was something we needed to worry about in northwest Iowa. She says we should be just as concerned here as people are there.
She tells us what vaccine people need when.
Dr. Badberg says anyone over the age of 1 can get the MMR vaccine at any time, and if you or your children haven’t had it, she encourages you to make an appointment.
