Medicare Part D Open Enrollment Period Begins Soon

O’Brien County, Iowa — If you’re on Medicare it can cost you money to not review your Part D drug coverage every year.

Carol Brinkert is a volunteer with SHIIP, the Senior Health Insurance Information Program, and she says the annual Open Enrollment Period for Medicare Part D is coming up, giving you the opportunity to see if the plan you have is the best one for you.

She talks about some of the options available.

Brinkert tells us how to get more information, or to make an appointment with a SHIIP volunteer for a review.

She says the open enrollment period is a good opportunity to review what you have and see if it’s what’s best for you going forward.

Medicare Part D is that portion of Medicare that deals with prescription drugs.

SHIIP is a free, confidential service of the State of Iowa Insurance Division, and in O’Brien County the SHIIP counselors are based at the Baum Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar. If you missed the phone number for O’Brien County’s SHIIP volunteers it’s 712-957-5579.
