Merry Christmas Students (with photos)

Sheldon, Iowa — In what has become something of a tradition for the start of the last day of school prior to Christmas break, faculty and staff took to the roof of Sheldon’s East Elementary School to greet the students in a holiday-themed style.

The tradition began two years ago when Principal Jason Groendyke took to the roof of the school wearing an elf costume, taking advantage of the “Elf on a Shelf” craze by becoming an “Elf On The School.” While Principal Groendyke was perched atop the school building that first year, his staff took the opportunity to gift-wrap his office, leaving him having to unwrap his way inside.

Last December, Groendyke was back on the roof, with the theme of “Santa & Friends”, saying the kids were expecting something, after the “Elf On The School” from the year before.

This morning, Principal Groendyke was back on the roof, this time accompanied by members of his staff, this year’s theme was “Merry Frozen Christmas”, and found those on the roof dressed as characters from the movie Frozen.  As usual, the kids who saw the display when they arrived for school were excited by the display.

Below are some photos from this morning’s “Merry Frozen Christmas” at East Elementary. Photos below courtesy East Elementary School.
