MidAmerican Energy Hit Hard By Storm, Working On Getting All Power Restored

Undated — Here’s an update on cleanup of storm aftermath from MidAmerican Energy:

They say that in northwest Iowa and South Dakota, the damage is extensive, with more than 100 broken poles identified. Trees, poles, wires, and equipment were laying on the ground, making restoration more difficult. In Boyden; the Cherokee area; Hull; Ireton; Lincoln County, South Dakota; Lyon County; Meriden; Sheldon; Sioux County; and the Storm Lake area, they expected most customers to be restored by 10 p.m. on Tuesday night.

In Hudson, SD, and the Rock Valley, IA, areas, restoration efforts are expected to take longer, with power expected to be restored by 10 p.m. Wednesday, July 30th. They say they are working with neighboring utilities and exploring alternative power sources to minimize the impact on their customers.
