Des Moines, Iowa — If your town has a derelict building or two that need to be rehabilitated and have asbestos removed to spur economic development, there is funding available toward that purpose.
Money is being made available to help small Iowa towns inspect and properly remove asbestos from abandoned buildings. Scott Flagg, with the Iowa D-N-R’s Derelict Building Grant Program, says the grants are open to communities of under five-thousand residents.
Flagg says communities should apply for the grants now.
