More Traffic, More Troopers On Roads Over Holiday Weekend

Northwest Iowa — Here’s a reminder to watch your speed while you’re traveling. Iowa State Patrol Sergeant Alex Dinkla says they’re continuing to see people of all ages driving at dangerous speeds — some in excess of 100 miles per hour.

Dinkla says the excuses run the gamut.

Dinkla says the problem seems to have gotten worse since the COVID pandemic and that people of all ages seem to be involved.

The Iowa State Patrol reminds us that they are in the midst of a seatbelt enforcement project right now as well, so there will be extra troopers out on the roads over the holiday weekend.

Meanwhile, Memorial Day weekend looks to be a busy one when it comes to travel. Brian Ortner with AAA Iowa.

Ortner says you may want to plan your travel time in advance.

Ortner says gas prices are about the same as they were for Memorial Day 2023.
