Sheldon, Iowa — On two occasions last month flood waters found their way into Sheldon High School during periods of heavy rain, causing headaches for school staff and administrators and forcing the postponement of the final performance of the final Summer Theatre production of the season.
At Wednesday’s school board meeting, Superintendent Cory Myer told the Board about what is being done to diagnose and correct the problem.
Myer talks about the system’s current capacity compared to what it would be if the school were to be built today.
He explains why the problem became apparent now, after a half-century without issues.
Myer says they’re looking at ways to correct the issue.
Myer says school officials are crossing their fingers, hoping that this remedy will solve the problem. He says if not, engineers say it will require a much more invasive…and expensive…solution.
