Spencer, Iowa — The name of a man found dead near the Clay County Courthouse has been released.
However, further details are still unavailable. The Spencer Police Department has identified the man located on Monday, February 20th as 29-year-old Joshua Martin of Marathon, Iowa. The cause of death has yet to be determined as the autopsy results have yet to be completed by the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office.
According to Spencer Police Chief Mark Warburton, they received a 911 call of an unresponsive male found “outside the property of 217 W 5th Street in Spencer.” A check of the address shows that’s the Clay County Courthouse property.
