Northwest Iowa — Blood is in short supply in the U.S., according to national sources. And according to area officials, it’s happening here too.
The Community Blood Bank serves most of the hospitals in northwest Iowa. Ken VerSteeg is the Executive Director of Community Blood Bank.
He tells us why that is.
VerSteeg says their participation remains down ever since the pandemic started.
He says that you can help out the blood supply by donating at the blood bank in Sioux Falls or donating when the bloodmobile comes to your town. The next time they will be in the area will be on the day before Thanksgiving — Wednesday, November 24th, at the Osceola Community Health Center in Sibley. To make your reservation, call 712-754-2574. For more information about giving blood, you can visit cbblifeblood.org.
